As the weather cools across the Mornington Peninsula, we are delighted to introduce our new Winter Menu across all Little Grasshoppers Early Learning Centres.
Winter is a wonderful time for warm, nourishing meals that provide comfort, nutrition and energy for busy days of learning, play and discovery. Our seasonal menu has been thoughtfully developed to include a variety of wholesome, home-style meals that children enjoy while supporting their growth and development.
This winter, children will enjoy favourites such as Chicken Bolognese, Irish Stew with Soda Bread, Beef Stroganoff, Chicken Quesadillas, Beef Tikka Masala, Homemade Soups, Vegetarian Chilli Con Carne and a range of healthy snacks, fresh fruit and nutritious afternoon teas.
More Than Just Mealtimes
At Little Grasshoppers, mealtimes are about much more than food.
Each of our centres features a dedicated dining room where children and educators come together to share meals in a welcoming and relaxed environment. These shared mealtimes provide an opportunity for children to slow down, connect with their peers, practise social skills and enjoy meaningful conversations with their educators.
Just like at home, our dining rooms are filled with talking, laughing, storytelling and learning. Children are encouraged to participate in discussions about food, healthy eating and where ingredients come from, helping to build confidence and positive relationships with food from an early age.
Encouraging Children to Try New Foods
Research has shown that children are more likely to try new foods when they eat together in a positive social environment.
By sharing meals with their friends and educators, children often become curious about what others are eating and are encouraged to explore new flavours, textures and ingredients. Seeing their peers enjoy a variety of foods can help children become more adventurous and develop healthy eating habits that last a lifetime.
Our educators play an important role during mealtimes by modelling positive eating behaviours, encouraging conversation and supporting children as they explore new foods at their own pace.
Freshly Prepared and Nutritionally Balanced
Our dedicated cooks prepare fresh meals daily using quality ingredients, ensuring children receive balanced nutrition throughout the day.
Our winter menu includes:
- Fresh fruit platters served daily
- Nutritious breakfasts and morning teas
- A variety of meat, poultry, fish and vegetarian options
- Fresh vegetables incorporated into meals
- Healthy afternoon teas and snacks
- Suitable alternatives for children with food allergies and intolerances
We believe that healthy eating habits begin in childhood, and we are committed to creating positive food experiences that support every child’s wellbeing.
Supporting Growing Minds and Bodies
A nutritious meal fuels more than just active bodies. It supports concentration, learning, emotional wellbeing and social development.
As we settle into the winter months, we look forward to welcoming children into our warm dining rooms where they can enjoy comforting home-cooked meals, connect with friends and continue developing lifelong healthy habits.
At Little Grasshoppers, every meal is an opportunity to nourish, connect and learn
